hi everyone -
i'm trying to make a trainer build and am stalled on the right (rear) brifter. it's old (~2008?) ultegra 10-speed.
i got everything cleaned, installed, popped on new cables and housing, and installed the chain today. but then realized that the rear derailleur wasn't shifting at all. the brifter clicks when you press it, but no change in cable tension at all.
a closer look (with headlamp!) reveals that the shift cable head (the little ball on the end) isn't sitting in the garage that it needs to in order to get the ratchet effect. instead it's on the far side of that. it's on the 'inside' (stem side) of the brifter body, up against the port when the cable exits and the housing snugs in.
i have no idea how this happened.
i also have no idea how to get the cable out and fix it.
thoughts?
