I'm new to Di2. I purchased the new GRX group. It came with the Y-split cable, which typically plugs into junction box under the stem. However, my group came with the handlebar end junction box. I want to wire the front the same way GP Lama did in the video below. In this video, he routes the left shifter cable internally through the bars to the bar end junction box on the right side.
Here is what I did: I do not have a cable long enough. To avoid buying the cable, I just used the y-split cable. Nothing plugs into the 'Y' part. I charged up the battery and every thing seems to work (I have no chain on it yet) but the FDR and RDR do shift with the shifters.
Before I tape everything in place and put bar tape on, is this a legit set-up or will leaving the port open on the "Y" split become an issue in the future?
