I learned that to my detriment early on with a 2.0 G-One Speed. I was zooming along and the next thing I know I am sliding on my hip with no warning. I won't use a slick on the front anymore because of that. I've used that G-One Speed happily as a back tire in all sorts of conditions, but I want some side knobs up front. I don't think they have to be that big. I've never had an issue with the WTB Byway, the G-One Allround when the center was worn down or a Conti Raceking with a slick center.
