IMTX Wheel Choice
Still 10 weeks out but I'm considering wheels for the race. I generally rent 808s and have had really good experiences on them. I rented a disc once (the first / last / only year of IMNC) and got caught in crosswind hell for pretty much the entire ride and swore never again.

That said, 80 miles of the IMTX course run N/S. Winds in TX are generally out of the N or S (last year was out of the S). With that in mind should I give a disc another shot? Or go the safe route?

Curious to hear what others will be riding this year as well.

Personally I’m using 808’s, but that’s only because I already have them

Unless excessively hilly, banned, or you're VERY light - always disc (assuming you have a disc or it's not otherwise massively expensive compared to the double 808s)

Disc on the rear.

Disc if you have the option.
If you’re worried about crosswinds bring a shallower front but leave the disc on the rear.

Once, I was fast. But I got over it.

Aren't discs not allowed for draft racing?

Unless the wind is strong enough to actually lift one off the ground, a disc is not affected by wind. The front wheel is where the instability comes.
