Stem choice for Felt DA4 with bayonet 3 fork
Quote | Reply
Right now I have a 70mmx30mm fixed stem on my DA4 with the bayonet 3 fork. I just feel too high with it and would like to get a zero rise stem which they have on Felts website for $199.00. https://feltbicycles.com/...riant=20533549236342

Am I correct in seeing that they have an adjustable stem available for considerably less? It comes in two parts, the top crown and the extension.
Top crown is $59.99. https://feltbicycles.com/...arts-bike-spare-part

The extension is $24.99. https://feltbicycles.com/...riant=18735894757494

My question being will this combo work on my bike to achieve zero rise, I assume it will. Also, would the 40mm be the optimum choice considering I have a 70mm fixed stem now?

I have a new DA bayonet 3 100x30 for sell on eBay if that helps you.
I am more interested if somehow we can put a regular stem in DA fork. Don’t know if anyone make it work.

Yes, you can go zero rise or even neg with that combo.

I have a DA4 and use the 100X30 but have used the adjustable with a few different stem lengths.

Personally If I were you I'd start with the 65 or 80 and see how it goes.
As you turn the stem down it makes the combo shorter. I don't know where you are now and how far down you want to go but it's difficult to tell how long of stem you'll need. Fortunately they're not that expensive.

There is a specific reason that they changed the adjustable stem to a fixed stem. First it is a pia to wotk on, it feels not solid/stable at all. And we built loads of them. Go for the fixed stem, you will not regret this.
