Warranty issue Favero Bepro
Quote | Reply
Had some problems with my left pedal and after a short correspondence with Favero Support, they asked me to send in my pedals for inspection. After what seems like an eternity, I finally got an E-mail from them stating that they are not able to "restore the left spindle with sensor". Their suggestion is to replace the current sensors with Assioma sensors, for the "exceptional price" of 519 euros + shipping.

Honestly I don't find this offer exceptional in any way, considering that I payed 700 euros for the pedals less than 2 years before our initial contact. I thus believe this to be a warranty issue which should be covered by Favero, except for shipping, but I could be wrong. So my questions are the following:

A) What to do regarding warranty?

B) pay another 519 euros + shipping?

C) Go for a different PM?

I would simply buy a new pair of Assioma pedals. They are fantastic, and only $650 USD. (Not sure price in other countries.)

I had a couple pairs of P1 pedals, and wore out two sets of pedal bearings in them at around 5K miles. So, if you got 2 years of use on what was a first-gen product is good and probably time for retirement.

The Assioma pedals are awesome so far. And, they have user-serviceable bearings. They are a massive leap forward from the Bepro generation.

I have a single sided bePro and dual assiomas. If you can't get Favero to replace the pedal for free (or cheap), I'd just go buy some new assiomas. They are far and away better than the bePro's. They are also only a few bucks more than that outrageous 519 price they gave you.

From what I can find:
Guarantee exclusions
The guarantee does not include:
  • Parts subject to normal wear-and-tear, such as batteries, connection cords and cables, connectors, moving mechanical parts and exterior surfaces;
  • Any software updates, maintenance, periodic checks;
  • Damages resulting from carelessness, negligence, any use or installation that does not conform with the instructions provided, and any unauthorized tampering or modifications;
  • Damages due to external events: accidents, infiltration of liquids, fire, voltage surges due to lightning or other sources, etc.

I have a hard time understanding the problem. They offered me to replace the sensors but when I asked if sensors are not covered by warranty, they claimed that the sensors worked perfectly. The seat of the Allen key is the problem. Apparently the sensor and the axle are soldered together and filled with resin and thus it is impossible to separate the axel from the sensor.

And I would love to buy new PM`s but as a student that is not an option at the moment.

Dunno what is the conversion of 519 euro, but single sided assioma is USD414 on clevertraining.

Can confirm the bearing replacement process is easy. Had both mine done in 15mins today. Mine had done ~10,000km.
