Saw this a couple days ago. Rails-to-Trails announced plans for a multi-use trail to run from the East coast (Washington DC) to the West coast (Washington).
The plan is to connect/utilize a number of existing trails. Still a number of hoops to go through and is years aeay, but pretty exciting none the less. Bikerumor put up a short write up on it this morning.
