Deli

I'm looking for some recipes of things I used to or currently get at various Jewish delis.

Chunky Russian dressing.... I used to go to the place just to get sandwiches with extra on it and then some extra on the side.

Chive cream cheese.... the consistency and the slight sweet flavor

Macaroni salad... just the simple plain one that seems to be pasta mayo and sweet relish

Potato pancakes... can never get them crisp (probably thin) enough at home.

Back in Detroit they called this a 13 and a half, pastrami on rye bread sauerkraut swiss cheese Russian dressing. Of course you can substitute corned beef if you're not a fan of pastrami.

I like almost all the salted cured meats. I have yet to and do not intend to try tongue

Dude you really need to get over the tongue thing. One of the tastiest cuts of beef in my opinion.

Tongue tastes just like corned beef. My grandfather used to get it all the time.

When I was a kid, my Dad always had a big jar or pickled tongue in the fridge. I remember eating it with him. I think it was a throw-back to the "brasserie" days of his late teens / early 20s where working men stopped off every day after work for a couple of beers before heading home. Pickled tongue, pickled eggs and bags of chips were the only "food" served...

We spend a week in Del Mar, CA in the summer. Milton is a great deli nearby.
We eat salty meat at least once a day for a week.
We call it “salty meat week”. After the 2nd day, we can’t wear our wedding rings any longer.

The running joke with me and my bro in law is that “we put more salty red meat in our mouth than a Native American porn star”
