I remember in college riding with a guy who would often do 10 x 1/4mi max with a 1/4 mi very easy rest. This was a brutal 5 miles. I also saw him do this for 5 miles, ride 1.5 hrs moderate to hard in the mountains and then do 10 x 1/4 mi again. Not many of us can do a workout like that, especially pushing 700+ average watts for the hard 1/4 miles. Likely 150ish% of FTP. I don't know if Starky still does these anymore, but it certainly seems like he is riding well, and always has.
