RIP Ranking Roger

English Beat and General Public were such great 80s bands. Sad news. He looks ripped in that picture.

Bummer. I'm actually listening to Pandora's 80's alternative channel this morning.

Sad news. Seen The Beat live many times over the last few years, but unfortunately never with Roger in the lineup.

The original line-up of General Public was certainly a supergroup:

Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger - the Beat
Mick Jones - The Clash (he left halfway through the first LP)
Mickey Billingham and Andy Growcott - Dexy's Midnight Runners
Horace Panter - The Specials

Save it for later is my all time favorite 80's song!

I can hear that first chord progression and know exactly who and what it is. Stops me in my tracks every time. Classic!

This one bums me out, one of my favorite bands. I saw them a few years ago without him, but did see him and Dave together with General Public back in the early 90s and the show featured a ton of English Beat hits. RIP.
