Sports betting odds explanation

Duke favored by almost 27pts . I get that.

What does over/under 149 mean?

If I bet $100 on ether team for the win, what would either scenario look like?

Over/under is combined total points scored

How much you win on the bet is determined by the odds you get. $100 bet on NDSU will net more than $100 on Duke

You will also have to pay "juice" if you lose.....usually in the 5-15% range. Looks like Duke could be as high as -120 (20%) and NDS is even

I don't think anyone has helped you.. and I can't

I was wonder if you make a bet a week before a game and the line lets say is +7 but by game start the line is 0 do you get the +7 that it was when you bet, or do you get the line at the start of the game?

You get the line at time of bet.

Yes, still not sure.

Cant seem to find it on line.

I would imagine if the spread was 27, if you and I bet $100, we would cover the spread, and that would be an even bet.

I'm an idiot.

Over under is total points for the game for both teams. Bet under 0 to 148 wins bet over and 150 plus wins.

There are two 100 dollar vanilla bets. (Simplified explanation below)

The line is 27 meaning Duke needs to win by 27 for you to win your 100 bucks. If they win by 26 or less you lose.

Money line tells you how much you have to bet to win 100 bucks. Duke was -15000 meaning you had to bet 15K to win 100 bucks for a Duke win, conversely if you had bet 100 bucks on ND State and they won, you would have won 15K.

Ok.. over/under is total points scored in the game, a straight up bet, $x to win $x, minus the vig.

Points is also a straight up bet against the spread, $x to win $x, minus the vig.

When you see the +/-, like baseball, that's based on $100 bet. +120 means bet 100, win 120.. -140 means bet 140 to win 100.

ETA: looks like windy provided an explanation while I was writing.

You get points when you bet. If the line moves significantly you can lay off the bet and create almost risk free arbitrage (that rarely happens)

Duke would need to win by 28 points for you to win the bet.

If Duke won by 27, it would be a push.
