Since 1990, the US and Serbia have something in common among all developed nations. Any guesses? I'll give you one hint...it isn't a good thing

Trick question, Serbia, as it exists in its current form only became a country in 2006.

I'll go for declining life expectancy for 100.

Ding ding ding! Maternal deaths, or deaths related to pregnancy is correct.

It’s pretty sad that most countries made huge improvements in this time yet we went backwards.

There’s a good article in this month’s national geographic about it and a shorter article on their website about it. It’s pretty interesting.

Can we blame it on AOC? She said we really should rethink having kids.

I am sure all those "pro-life" people will get right on this.

At 14 deaths per 100,000 the rate in the US is actually pretty low...

Not really.

But if you look at that Nat Geo article it seems to mainly be an issue with a specific demographic.

Almost 5x the top 4 countries is not good.

14 vs. 3 in Poland, Iceland, Greece, and Finland.

That’s a lot of kids growing up with no mom.

Lot of kids growing up with no dad too.

That is also skewed heavily to the same demographic.

Georgia gave it away. I recall a recent stat on how much maternal mortality rates have increased there.

Suffer Well.
