Just wondering if anyone has any positive experience with a particular fine dining restaurant in San Francisco, with a view preferred. Any recommendation would be highly appreciated!

This ought to be a good starting point.

https://projects.sfchronicle.com/...top-100-restaurants/

I've been to Kokari and Yank Sing. Both are very good.

Others that I've been to that were formerly on the list and good are Nopa, Foreign Cinema.

None of them have much of a view though. Kokari (Embarcadero) and Yank Sing (near the Bay Bridge) are near the bay which might be nice for a walk before or after dinner.

Kokari would be the favorite of my wife and I. Get reservations early though...

Enjoy.

What's your budget? Some of the more upscale/fine dining places in SF can run up to $300+ a plate.

Boulevard is good. Not much view but it’s in the embarcadero, so you get a classic sf feel getting there.

Chez Pannise in Berkeley should be on everyone's list. Well priced prix fixe on weekdays.
La Folie. Easy walk from one of the cable car lines.
Gary Danko. I'm a sucker for a cheese cart.
I have always enjoyed Michael Mina's restaurants. he has several in SF. I know that International Smoke has to be booked WAY ahead.
You are only an hour away from The French Laundry....

None of these places have a view. I don't remember many upscale places in SF that did. Maybe something in the Fairmont, or the Mark Hopkins?

If you don't mind vegetarian - Greens. Fabulous views of the Golden Gate Bridge right on the water. Food is terrific too.

As far as view goes, you can't beat Cityscape. It's on the 46th floor of the Hilton San Francisco Union Square with, I think, 360 degrees of floor-to-ceiling windows. As far as food goes, I haven't been there in a long time so I have no idea how it is today but it was good when I was there in 2006 or so.

Thank you everyone for all the great advice. Had a great time in the bay area. We didnt get to try all the restaurants but ended up going to only Nopa on Divisadero and Greens Restaurant. Really enjoyed both and Greens was much better than we expected. Spent all day at Muir Woods hiking all over the place and that was a lot of fun.
