If you read what the Founders wrote on this subject, the term "well-regulated" meant that the militia -- composed of able-bodied men -- would conscientiously regulate itself and be led by men of high capability and judiciousness whenever circumstances necessitated calling out of the militia, which it often did back in those days.

Today, progressives and liberals look at the word "regulated" and impute that to mean some sort of government regulation, which it most definitely did not mean when the founders enshrined the right to keep and bear arms within our constitution.

Look up the Old West term "regulators." It's interesting, to say the least.

So we are supposed to understand 'well-regulated' in the way the founding fathers meant it, but we are supposed to understand 'arms' the way we understand it, e.g. not muskets...gotcha.

Don't forget that black people and women also shouldn't own guns, because that his what the founders meant by militia.

Yes, it was pretty racist, which is why chaparral thought it was important to remind us.

Are you just finding out that many of the founders were pretty racist?
