Blood lactate test comparison 8 months apart

Wanted to post up my test results from today. Very happy with with how it turned out.

In the last 3 months or so I've been in maintenance mode on the bike so to speak while I've been working on a 10k run build. Bike workouts 3x a week mostly z2 stuff and a few ftp intervals. Most workouts taken from zwift 10-12wk ftp builder. So after some great run gains at the end of December and going into some decline in January, I was starting to really worry and went into a taper 2 weeks ago. Last weekend I was supposed to race a 10k but flaked (wussed out from the 10degree temps haha). And this week I was just focusing on recovery work, really trying to get my head back in the right place. And today I went in for lactate testing with very fresh legs.

I haven't taken a formal ftp test in a while but had set up zwift at 290. I set a new ftp back in August of 284 during a race so it felt right.

Okay test time. Weight is currently at 153 and 11.5% fat. Results showed ftp of 286 and massive gains in zone 2 power and vO2 of 77. Sounds pretty absurd; it was based on watts and HR and not a mask so that's up for interpretation.

Here's a few pics of charts. Overall I'm really happy how it turned out and I'm not worried I had lost my edge or something. It was a rough January to say the least. Looking forward to the season

If it’s watts and HR to estimate your Vo2max, that might not be really the number. I believe the estimation model assumes everyone has the same cycling economy, so improved economy might make it look like vo2max is higher than it is.

But, who cares! It means at the very least you ride as if you are someone w a VO2max of 77, to me that’s just as good. :)

Yea that's how it was charted. HR and power. Though using the same testing methods it does prove more efficiency.
