Exactly. Two women....one based in London and the other formerly based in London and now based in LA. And btw, both anti-Trumpers......and i'll take a wild guess, also anti white males who put him in office. It was no coincidence that white males were being corrected by black males in the commercial. Everything in a commercial is specific and has a purpose.

I'm not seeing the race part of this, or any connection to Trump.

Congrats. - P&G...
  • Procter & Gamble posted revenue of $17.1 billion, beating Wall Street's estimate of $16.9 billion.

"Shares of Procter & Gamble, the maker of Tide laundry detergent and Gillette shaving products, rose 3% on Tuesday after the company posted its best quarter of sales growth in more than a decade.
Organic sales growth hit 7% during its fiscal fourth quarter of 2019, outpacing last year's lackluster 1% growth. The strong performance was a result of increased demand for health care, beauty, and home care products."

Oops what's this?
"The company posted net a loss of $5.24 billion due to an $8 billion write-down of its Gillette Shave Care business to adjust the carrying value of its goodwill and intangible assets.
Procter & Gamble's shaving business has also been hurt by new competitors like Harry's, as well as changing consumer habits.
"The Shave Care business has also been negatively impacted by market contraction of blades and razors, primarily in developed markets, due to lower shaving frequency, and competitive activities," the company said in its earnings report."

I think it's great that they mention competitors like Harry's. There was definitely a need for choices when it comes to razors because they became ridiculously expensive. Mach III replacement blades are like $20 for 4 or something stupid like that. I never fell for that trap, and am perfectly content with my twin blade disposable razors--they work great.

Companies like Harry's saw the market and went for it. I'm glad they have succeeded. They provided a quality razor that does the job for a fraction of the cost and it's hurting P&G. Good.

I never understood how Gillette got such a monopoly on razors.

A razor is a perfect product to sell. They probably cost about 10 cents to make, shipping would be extremely cheap, the market is permanently established with people who grow hair...

Through the 70s and 80s Gillette made a series of genuine innovations that made their razors better and better. Adding blades, comfort strips, blade coating etc. every couple of years. They basically out innovated the competition and left them chasing. 10 years ago there wasn't much on the market that worked as well as a Gillette razor. Once they held most of the market, the price crept up until others saw an opportunity to compete.

Good points. But the thing is, it is not like they reinvented a high tech cell phone where there is big competition and the margin's are small. I'm just surprises there aren't better Chinese knock offs that give Gillette a run for their money. Actually there could be better and cheaper products out there but you don't usually see them in your local grocery store.

Ha! That's awesome.

Apologies if somebody already mentioned this up thread, but this article from the Onion is classic:

Hahaha! That sums it up!

Those are both hilarious! And they do perfectly sum up the stupid notion that more blades is better just because it's more.

The article from the Onion is awesome:

The market? Listen, we make the market. All we have to do is put her out there with a little jingle. It's as easy as, "Hey, shaving with anything less than five blades is like scraping your beard off with a dull hatchet." Or "You'll be so smooth, I could snort lines off of your chin." Try "Your neck is going to be so friggin' soft, someone's gonna walk up and tie a goddamn Cub Scout kerchief under it."
