//inherit apparent hatred of public workers. //

Really? I despise those who game the system particularly when it’s taxpayer $s at play. I bet I despise these people less than their peers in the public sector.

You could be right about this. Capitalism can be difficult to regulate. I actually worry more about our lack of investment in science and research. Our downfall may not be stock price / pay disparity but simply falling too far behind in innovation and research.

God I hope this is a made up number. Do you have any evidence to support this?

I would hope its more like 20% of the population living paycheck to paycheck.

OK, 78%. Granted one survey, but no way is it 20%.

Life is expensive in a lot of areas. I mentioned in another thread that just to cover our starter home mortgage and childcare for one kid we need to come up with $75,000, after tax, a year. We are building our savings but it's pretty hard to with those numbers!

Long Chile was a silly place.

Yeah I did some googling, and that was the self reporting number.. I wonder what those people's finances really look like.

BC, its hard to talk about things without seeing the whole picture. It is all about choices, where you live, do you have kids, does someone stay home, do you rent, do you drive shit cars, do you not have cable, cell phones etc..

Finances can be hard, but I see waaay to many people who "have to have..." and then claim poverty. For years we drove 10yr old cars, no cell phones no cable, no family vacations just so we were not living paycheck to paycheck.

Just ran some quick numbers starter home around here is $150,000 so thats about $1050 a month or $12,600 (includes PMI)
