Build my new bike---groupset

What do you do now?

Use existing SRAM eTap 11s, paid for, existing working

Switch to Shimano for syncho shift, possible ultegra RX to allow 1x (although limited range available)

Wait for SRAM eTap 12s with who knows? Maybe no blip box anymore?

I'd say just use the Etap. You got it, it works.

IMHO, eTap is best on a road bike and Di2 Synchro is best on a TT bike. That is what I have, and I would do it again.

I had a wire come loose and get caught and cut by my front chainring today. Wires are stupid. An unnecessary failure point and a PITA.

I would stick with your current eTap and wait to see what 12 sp brings (hopefully a repackage Blip Box) or figure that Shimano is probably working on wireless.

This! Use the money saved to buy another set of wheels and maybe an extra battery for the group.

By the way, what is your new bike :)

I guess I should add to that this might be influenced by selling my SpeedConcept with either the eTap or with SRAM Red 20 mechanical. I don't know that I want to bother recabling the bike to put the mechanical back on to sell it.

Omni is the new bike.

No need for more wheels, just sold two sets.

I am getting a new dirt jumper, though...

Sounds more like the installer/mechanic was stupid. DI2 wires don't just fall into chainrings.

I have Ultegra 10sp di2 on a roadie and have been thinking about putting eTap on my Shiv. I'd be interested in your reasoning.

Thanks!

I think that the road bike shift design of eTap is more natural, intuitive, and less prone to mis-shifts than Di2. I like absolute control of eTap with a very simple human interface.

I installed Di2 on my TT bike with only a single wire visible between the cockpit and frame. I hid the Junction A inside an extension tube. The eTap Blip is huge, and there is no good way to hide a blip and its wires. Also, I really love Synchro on a TT bike. I just like to go heads-down and let the bike simply handle the gear.
