8060 brake - can't get it to brake

Hi
Just got a di2 st-r8060 brake and when I pull the brake wire through the end of the cable just goes all the way and end up right by the outer cable. It is like the wire end is not big enough. So when I pull the brake nothing happens.

I am pretty sure it is something very simple by I can't figure out what it is I am doing wrong.

I am using the org. Shimano cable that came with the brake.

Going out of my mind.......

There is a little silver piece that floats on the inside of the brake lever. It drops down to get out of the way so you can tighten the screw that secures the brake lever to the handlebars. Then, you fish it back up to route the cable through and into the housing. You can see the cable stop (darker gray) set in the silver thingie in the picture below.
