Ceramic gear question
I just got ceramic bearings in my zipps and a new pulley. I am trying to get the most out of my fitness and hope this will allow for sub 2:10 in a half ironman. Now I have been using a new chain and 11 speed cog for race day but always went with a basic ultegra chain. I looked at titanium and dura ace and saw its just a small gram difference in weight. What does the ceramic chain offer? Does it have special bearings or something? If I am doing ceramic bearings in my wheels and pulleys should I do a chain as well or am I pretty well covered.

are you asking about the chain? If so then yes if that is a thing, I thought ceramic chains were to save weight, but is there more to them then that?

Why ceramic? I thought the lube was the most important thing for the chain these days, waxed chains seem to be the way to go to get the most out of things.

For peace of mind, why not just run a DA or Ultegra chain? Maybe go with one of the fancy coated chains if cost no object, but reliability has to count for something on race day.

Just get the Premier Ultra Optimized Chain and be done with it: https://www.premierbike.com/...ucts/optimized-chain

A lot of the ceramic stuff seems like the worst bang for the buck available IMO. Material is nowhere near as important as usage. And mass is of relatively minor importance anyway. A decent chain with a good choice of lube - a wax coated chain like the premier or a DIY of the same should leave little or nothing on the table.
