Great info! Are you able to mention the cost of the Tactical without wheels?

Premier Tactical would be my choice as well. Comes with case, good chain, power meter, disk and deep wheel set and last I knew a generous fee to get a bike fit, which no other company IMO does. No lose and a awesome looking bike with all the perks you'd have to spend more for.

I don't want to get exact, because I'm not sure to what extent it would be a standard deal for Dan to make, but I will say I felt it was a significant but reasonable discount. Overall, I ended up right in the price range the OP appears to be considering.

Totally understandable. I think I'm going to propose a similar scenario because I really want to get a pair of Enves.

Dan is incredible, everything about him that you've seen on ST has been true in my experience. I'm sure he would be able to work something out with you that will let you get what you want.

I bet you could find a new 2018 Felt IA 16 around or below $2400 asking around and haggling. about $1100 for di2 from some british website, leaves you about $1500 for race wheels. probably a bit more if you sell the 105 groupset you take off
I like this idea... I'd opt for eTap over di2 and with the $1500, Flo wheels would fit the bill... 60/disc and a 60/90 wheel set would be under budget.

I will quote what someone said here (I saw it a few weeks after I first joined ST) "the bike that fits them" tell them go to a reputable bike fitter get a bike fit and then have the fitter give them options for bikes that would fall within their price range and fit them, then they should decide based on whatever criteria they want (I like this brand vs. that brand...I hate those colors but love these...etc.). I have an IA-10....great bike other than that rear brake (mine is a 2015).. but hey Trek, Cervélo, Premier Tactical, none of it matters if the bike doesn't fit you. I almost made the mistake of buying a bike before getting fit. I would have ended up wasting a bunch of money on buying a bike that didn't fit me and then spending a bunch more money trying to make it fit after I bought it. You have been warned...er...your friends have been warned! :))))))))

Comes with a hard case for transport?
in regards to the QR: Hard case? No. It’s surrounded in a hard soft foam (if you buy it through MyBikeShop). The box and foam is meant to be reused for shipping. For shipping in the USA, you can use Bike Flights. Outside, you can use the box, or buy a hard case. However, the point and fact remains that it comes with a reusable packing/shipping box, use it as you wish.

Happy to work out pricing that works for each athlete.

If you have good wheels we can omit and discount, same for power meters, hard cases etc.

We have recently reduced the price on the website (Tactical 2.0) by omitting the power meter and hard case - mainly because the last 10-12 orders had athletes ask for pricing without them. Also - happy to add them back in.

What ever works best for you.

Yes, of course, we (at least I) were all assuming a proper fit in giving such bike advice. But always worth underscoring!!

Thanks for chiming in Dan. So does that mean for $5690, we dont get a case or power?

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

My friends have been following the thread and soaking it all in. I'm especially glad to be reminded about Premier Tactical. The pic posted earlier is slick! One of the friends has a Dad that is an experienced cyclist and likes to do his own maintenance, so she would be OK ordering online only. The other friend might prefer going through her LBS, I'm not sure. Either way the education they got from all of you is way more than I would have ever been able to come up with. Thanks.

Dan, I was just on your website and noticed this in the description for the Premier 2.0, " (dual Info Crank Power Meter on XS) " It seems like this might be a carry over from the old description that you might want to delete? In any case, thanks for chiming in on this thread and congratulations on creating one slick bike! That thing makes my 2013 Cannondale Slice look pedestrian. My wife is going to kill me when I tell her it is time to start planning on me getting a new bike :-)

Trek Speed Concept. One of the fastest bikes available and you can find very nice used ones for 5k.

Thank you for checking out our site http://www.PremierBike.com

Because we specify 155 crank arm legs on the XS and wanted to offer a crank based power meter - we selected the dual InfoCrank for the XS. That is what comes on that bike along with a mid-compact chainring made by Praxis.

If you get the "race" versions, you get Reynolds Strike wheels, which are really nice, fast, and stable in winds
I wouldn't really agree with them being stable in the wind. I have the Reynolds Strike wheels in my road bike and I like them a lot (they look awesome and just feel fast) but they can be a twitchy in cross winds. If you're taller / heavier / stronger chances are they'll be just fine for you - maybe a little annoying on very windy days when the wind comes from certain angles. However if you are lighter /smaller, they may not be the best wheels for you.

interesting to me so far: the multiple shout-outs at the $5000 price point, fully loaded, are:

Premier
Canyon
Felt
Quintana Roo

I can't disagree at all. I think you guys nailed that pretty good.

It still a great bike....
🤔 Maybe I'll do that....
