I love the idea of a rear-facing Boa, great idea. The Bontragers in particular are very smart, love the red ones!

I wonder if it's possible to replace them though? I've had to switch the Boa's on my S Works shoes twice now, because they became stuffed up with mud and stopped working.

Id imagine that placing them on the heel would limit the amount of crap they would encounter.

Easy for me to say it now of course, but I've been wondering for ages why they couldn't put a boa on the back of the shoe.

I have the ballista... they are nice for sure. comfy but my .02 I find it hard to get them really snug.
For a tri, not a big deal like a 70.3 or oly dist..
but for crit racing or IM dist i would want something to hold my foot more snuggly.

Easiest shoes to put on, and fit is great.

Do you mean the 1500 V4's? I don't think they're producing a T4. They seem to have discontinued the T2, which was the shoe I use to race in, and seem to only be doing the V4 this time around. Unless it just isn't up on their site yet.

They're ok. I found them a little hard and heavy and the boa wasn't actually that much of a help in transition. I actually prefer a regular shoe with quick laces. All around decent shoe but probably won't be buying another pair, especially since I race in 4%'s now

Rumor is Giro will be announcing some new shoes... with Boas. Alas, it would seem they put them in the conventional location (on the side of the shoe), rather than on the heel. Disappointed as I think it's fair to say Giro mainstreamed the "aero road shoe" category with the Empire (intentional or not), and it would have been nice to see them lean into that space and give us an Empire with aero Boas.
