For those who coach need some feedback
So I am spending a lot of time working on my swim this winter (4 times per week). My endurance swim will be on Sundays and with a Wednesday technique session of about 45 minutes or so. Tuesday and Thursday are club workouts of one hour. I will be doing TRX/Strength M-W-F. So now the question is which program to follow on Zwift. I am torn between the 12 week advanced winter program, the Olympic Tri Prep or 12 week FTP builder. I am tempted to do the 12 week FTP builder which seems like a good balance. The 12 week winter training program seems like a bit too many hours for someone who wants to do triathlon (its about 6 hours per week) and I don't want to detract or spend a ton of energy that could used for improving my swim.

Thoughts on the Zwift program? Thanks.

There is just too little here for anyone to give a thoughtful or accurate recommendation.
To start, age, years of experience, race distances, recent training history/volume. that's just a start of the info someone would need to help you make a decision.

That said, your gut is probably right, if you are thinking 6 hours a week is too much off season volume for you, you are probably right.

If you don't feel comfortable posting more info in a forum send me a message and I'll gladly give you a hand deciding on a trajectory for the winter months

What do you mean by “endurance swim” and “technique session?”

Endurance swim....akin to a long slow run......technique is a session focused on refining my stroke and some drills.....not concerned about distance or speed.

So you’re planning on wasting 2 of your 4 weekly swims?

No I have 4 swims per week, 2 will be composed of me doing the club training...1 is an endurance swim (no workout structure just do what you want or if you have a workout just do it but no structured training provided by the club) and then I have session of 45 minutes with our other club which is a workout but most of it is focused on technique ..its almost 1500m in total for that workout). I hope that clears it up.

You lost me at “akin to a long run.” 😀. Don’t try to train the swim like you would the run.

And Jason beat me to the punch.

If you are trying to work on your technique, but aren’t concerned about distance or speed then you aren’t working on your technique.

If you want to talk, I am happy to give you some ideas on how to train to improve your swim.

Going back to the Zwift thing, you're going into the offseason, yeah? I'm not a coach, but I wouldn't really bother with any specific program, if it were me. Actually, I'm at the same point in the season, took the last week or so completely off to give a couple of niggles some time to heal, swim season starts this week, so it'll be 2-3x per week with masters, 2-3 rides per week (riding to swim, hoping to dust off the mountain bike and get some rides in there as well). and try and be consistent with running and building some much needed durability. To help on the durability front, the plan is to add weights during the off season about 2-3x per week over my lunch hour.
