The release, which covers the UCI’s Agenda 2022 — a four year strategic road map for the organisation — reads: “Following nearly three years of tests, and in agreement with various stakeholders — teams, riders, mechanics, fans, commissaires, and the bicycle industry via the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFGSGI) — the decision has been taken to authorise disc brakes for road and BMX Racing, as of 1st July this year. Point 1.3.025 of the UCI Regulations will be amended to this effect, to allow the use of disc brakes during training and competitions for road and BMX Racing, as is already the case for cyclo-cross, mountain bike, trials and mass participation events.”

I wouldn't be happy with much the UCI does that actually makes sense unless they loosen up the rules on bike positions and common sense nickel and dime "throwback" rules.

........bring back Superman and Old Faithful

UCI road is just amazing, MTB riders are now riding with zero seat setback on 78 deg seat tubes, yet it is deemed too dangerous for road riders to go closer than 50mm.
Any sort of hand support in front of the handlebar is illegal, but dangerously hanging your forearms off the front of the bike is OK.
Tall? Bad luck, you cannot even achieve a very average TT position due to length rules.

It really is time to do a total revamp on what the rules should be controlling and how to administer them fairly.
