Headlamp for running?
Anyone have a suggestion for a headlamp that will not fall off while you are running? I have an older Petzl incandesent (too heavy) and figure I need one of those new LED ones.

This is what I have asked for for x-mas. Lots of good reviews on ST.

The Petzel Tikka Plus works great. I dont even notice that is in on my head. It's light and it does not move around.

Princeton Tec Corona - $45, 3 brightness settings, lamp tilt, lightweight. Use it for night/trail runs & hiking, love it.

Yet another vote for the Petzel (even if it is a French company) :)

I've liked the Princeton Scout. Very small & light weight. I used it in the last two IM Hawaii.

I would vote for the Petzl Myo xp. It is more powerfull than the Tika, has a nice fit and three lightsettings. I´m trailrunning with mine and find it to be splendid. Oh, and it was recently voted best headlight in a large test by the german Outdoor magazine.

Yet another happy Tikka Plus user. Combined with a little NB flasher that goes on the back and a VistaLite clipped to my belt, I'm pretty confident that I'm visible as well as able to see where the potholes are.

PS - ShawnF, I'll entertain replacing the NB flasher with an Asics one if you've got one. :)

Just for a differing view- I tried both headlamps and ahandheld torch and find the torch much better. I run on trails and with a headlamp you dont get the depth perception you need to avoid rocks and stuff (the headlamp is the same height as your eyes).

A torch also gives you much more output for the price. You actually get use to holding it pretty quick and dont really notice it.

Guess it really depends on how far your runs are and on what surface

A hand held torch?? As in a "lets go get Dr. Frankenstein" angry mob torch?? That is old school. Cool

I have the Black Diamond Xenix. I haven't tried the others mentioned. It has been great. I use the lower wattage Led's on better streets and the higher output one for darker areas. I don't notice it after a minute or so.

One of the guys from Cal TEch made some helmet straps for his Xenix. Looked great.
