Since I don't make a penny doing it and there's not too much else for us to do outside up here right (it snowed again just yesterday), then I thought this might be appropriate to share with those of us in the Chicago/Madison/Milwaukee triangle.
We're on year three of spring cyclocross racing in Rockford, IL. If you're in the area and looking for a little funishment this Sunday or the Saturday before Mother's Day, I have just the opportunity for you. This Sunday's race is at a big park made for zip lines and golf and spends its winters as a snowboard park. Super cool venue that's great for spectating and has some pretty fun features for a CX race. It's <10 minutes off the State Street exit on I90 and in the middle of a zillion restaurants. Parking is next to the start and there's actual indoor bathrooms, not porta-pots. Any bike with knobs on the tires is welcome. The runoff from the melting snow park and the forecasted rain might make it a good chance to race a mt bike or fat bike. There's even a fat bike specific race ending the day. We added a non-competitive beginners class as well that's a no-pressure way to try things out. Come join us for one or both!
The last race is only two miles north of there and takes place in a park with a grassy dam area surrounded by woods.
