Is it possible air/wind goes into all that open space on the top of the shoe and is a negative

I wasn’t so worried about the top as it all looks pretty tight with my foot in it. Plus, compared to a big Velcro buckle it has to be a net positive.

The bottom made me nervous enough that I gorilla taped up to the first elastic.

Also, they are so easy to get in and out of that I wouldn’t go back to the Velcro buckle.
