I read a lot about athletes working through pain when they push their limits. This year I had a lot of my own, but all from toes on both feet. They are crooked and evil. I have pics. They've been getting worse over the years, i.e. more crooked and more overlapping.
If anyone has any thoughts or experience with toe pain and surgery I'd like to hear it.
The pain happens as I go longer, biking or running. It’s like the toes are waging a war after being in shoes for a while.
When it got to the point where I thought I might have to quit triathlons I went to a podiatrist. He suggested I stop doing the biking and running several times. [sigh]
We talked the surgery option, but he said it might not help, get worse or be needed again later. He verified he is experienced with the operation but had no history of patients that are active. Most of them are older and sedentary. So I have no knowledge of the history of this surgery on active people.
He then wrapped my one foot to "fix" the toe. Walking with that was more painful then the engendering problem.
So the toes are still doing their thing and slowly getting worse.
Thoughts? Your experience with pain and or surgery?
Some pics (be brave):
Toe overlap on left foot
More crooked toes right foot
