Do a search, I asked this same question a couple months ago and the topic went on for days. Some people are very much for it, others very much against. If you are going to do, ease into it very slowly. Good luck.

exactly. i did a fair deal of barefoot running this summer when i was in the doldrums of being bored, overtrained, bummed out, etc. i would just head down to the park and start doing fartlek. it was the most pure and beautiful running i did all year, and the most enjoyable too.

On the beach so I can swim afterwards. Heaven help me if there are scantedly clad women sunning, just ups the HR ;). Really works the calf and ankle.

After doing a couple hours of squats to improve my mad cycling skillz I used to charge out of the gym in barefeet singing at the top of my lungs - "BORN FREEEEEE....FREE AS THE WIND BLOWS...FREE AS THE....".

I got some weird looks and after some reflection I wasn't sure it was optimal so I've changed it up a bit. I mean, we didn't evolve with clothes on right? I mean, I'm sure we didn't have our whitey tidies or fancy compression shorts through 10 million years of evolution so the next logical step is that our optimal stride will only be found when our wankers are free to wank around in the wind. The wrong stride will set up an INCREDIBLY uncomfortable harmonic oscillation and I found I could only run about 200yards before the pain in Mr. Johnson made me stop. OBVIOUSLY my stride was all messed up and "unnatural". What I've found is that skipping works best. So now after my couple hours of squats I burst from the gym buck naked and skipping barefooted while singing "BORN FREE....". I get even weirder looks now but its the natural way. Its the best way.

It will help with your cadence and another bonus is no injuries. I trained barefoot all year and not once did I have even a hint at pain in my legs.
