SAC,

I got into the water around 9 am with a wetsuit. I think that it'll be bearable without a wetsuit, but then why chance it. I did not feel hot at all. I was comfy. I think the water was in the low 70's

i was in the day before yesterday without one. i'm a total cold water wuss, and i was OK once I got in. But, I had been sitting in the sun for about 2 hours prior to getting in... i've become hypothermic from swimming in open water in miami, so I think if I was ok, anyone else would be too.

OK, now I'm confused! Any way of knowing the water temperature more accurately? Anyone....?

Today at 0600, wind speed was 8 mph with gusts to 13; air temperature was 57 F., and water temperature was 70 F. From what I can remember from my naval aviation water survival survival course, the water is going to "feel" a lot colder than 70 given the air temp and wind.

I haven't done IMFL, but friends who have said they were chilled to the bone even with a wetsuit by the time they exited the water.
