OT - My first 10 hrs in NYC
I've been to NYC like a dozen times in the past 6 years and have only seen two celebrities (Jon Stewart and Jennie Finch) before. Well, on my flight from Chicago, George from The Apprentice was sitting in first class. I nearly knocked him over as he was exiting the men's room. Then in the lobby of my hotel, Bill Gates. The richest man in the world was walking by himself through the lobby at 11:30pm. BTW, this is a nice hotel, but not where I would stay if I had more money than most countries. If that wasn't enough, I go downstairs this morning to get some coffee and big wave surfer Laird Hamilton was in front of me, "Latte with 4 shots, please." Four shots, holy crap!! He is a pretty big dude. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Hey, it's the off-season.

I was once running in Central Park with my brother and we passed Kevin Bacon. Guess that takes care of that 6 degrees of seperation pretty darn quick. I loved that city, tons of fun

George Ross from the Aprrentice was a training client of mine for a while, very funny and cool guy. Lives out in Long Ilsland. The stories that guy has about "The Donald" are histerical! Are you working the Expo? I will be at the Asphalt Green Booth helping out there for a bit on Friday.

I guess you have to know who these celebrities are in the first place to be able to spot them. I'd be able to recognize Gates, but big wave surfers? You got me there.

Laird is more than a "big wave surfer". He's a surfing icon, the Eddie Aikau of our time. I wonder if there's ever been a T-Shirt "Laird Would Go" ?

A quick google search out of curiosity came up with this on Eddie Aikau:

Hey Shawn.

Yeah - celeb sightings are wierd, no? Even living in NYC, I still do double takes when I see 'em. It's like, 'shouldn't you be 12 inches high inside my TV?"

If you get to Central Park 10-11-ih - Stern goes running practically every day. You can't miss him. TAAAAALL, w/ bandana on his head, (I think he thinks that's a disguise).

Laird!!! SOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOL!!!

See you @ Expo!!!

I had dinner next to Delroy Lindo on my last trip to NYC. Problem was, no one I told knew who he was?! (btw, he's the black guy in the movie Get Shorty, among other things)

also--you think 4 shots of espresso is alot? My fiance was making a cake and needed espresso to go into it...she went into a starbucks to get the espresso instead: She walked in and asked for 10 shots--the "barista" looked at her in wide-eyed wonder and yelled out to the others: "get this lady an "ONCE" Stat!!!" Now that was funny.

"ah-hem...the time is yours."

I was walking around the Theatre district in NYC and out steps Lily Tomblin a few feet away from me as she ges into a limo. She had a bodyguard with her.

Even funnier. I was in Kingston, Ont. walking around downtown. There's some guy with a dog standing in front of an old car (1937 Buick or something?). I pet the dog on the head as I go by and say to the guy "nice dog you got there Bud".

My wife then turns to me and says "did you not know who that was?" To which I had to reply "no".

It was Dan Ackroyd. Apparently he has a summer home in the area.

I was in NYC last Friday for an interview. Was standing on 57th street on the cell phone when Jay Leno walked out of Brioni. Can't miss that chin! Love NYC, too bad the job I was looking in to is not there but in Seattle.

Saw Sarah Jessica Parker here in Chicago last month,,,can you say small!?! my god is that woman tiny.
