Going to Kona (slightly OT)
So I am going to Kona next week (wife has meeting and I thought I would tag along) and I understand many of you have just came back from there.

Looking to get some good training in, the run and swim should be easy but what about the bike? Is there anywhere I can rent a ROAD bike?

Besides training in warm weather, I'd like to find a good boogie boarding beach. Any recommendations?

Also any other suggestions on things to do, places to go.

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks

gb

Thanks Cathy!

I checked out Hawaiian Bike Work's web site. Just what I was looking for.

How about you locals, what's a good boogie boarding beach on the big island?

Hapuna is good if you're taking the whole family. Nice sandy beach. Hopefully it won't be too windy........katy

Hapuna is a great beach and can have fun surf conditions. You should be careful and pay attention to the lifeguards and posted warnings. We are coming into the time of year when Hapuna can have a nasty shallow shorebreak and it raises the possibility of serious and permanent injury.

If you haven't figured out the the Java shop on the beach is pretty cool and Kona Brewing is great for grinds and local micro brew, If you drive to Volcano stop by at the Naaleahu Fruit Stand in the town by the same name for sandwichs, cookies, and drinks as there isn't that great of stuff up at the park. Their sandwiches and cookies are 100% killer. Enjoy G
