I am hoping to buy a cheap tri bike to stop racing on my cyclocross bike for next season.

These are my measurements:

I don't post often, so I probably lack the gravitas for this, but in seeing this post without any replies, I feel like like one of those graffiti guys from the movie Breakin' when he sees a new subway car. . .

The bike will fit, but the seat will be too high.

Heh.

(And because I'm an unredeemable nerd, I'll also try to give some useful advice and say that I'd never buy a bike online. Save some money and get fitted and buy a great bike, not a provisional one.)

dtreeps,

Sorry to be a dick about your question but I have been confused by your measurements. I think most others will be too.

Are your legs plus your head really only 34 cm long?

i.e., (Height) 186.69 - (Torso) 152.4 = 34.4 cm

If you have a big head, then you must have really short legs. With legs that short, I don't know if you can fit any bike other than some exotic custom frame.

Then too, If you legs can't be longer than 34.4 cm, how can your inseam be 152.4 cm?

Ben, i was using the measurement system from the litespeed custom page.

http://www.litespeed.com/2005/custom.aspx

Basically with this system they measure torso from ground to sternum notch. So the torso includes the legs in this measurement. I'm not sure where another system would start for the torso (hip bone?).

thanks,
Dan

obviously it would be better to get a great bike but it's probably never going to happen.

Thanks,
