That sounds about right. It's ~1 mile to the surf break in front of the life guard tower, and 1.5 miles to the end of the Scripps pier. A buddy of mine once did four non-stop round trips to the pier and back. 6 hours. Nuts.

Done those shorter swims a hundred times....I still hate ocean swimming. Salt, waves, sea monsters,....ugh.
