It's been a little over five years since I lived in Dallas, but I think Ft. Worth is a great town. It has a more country vibe than uber-chic Dallas (hence the moniker "cow town"). The Bass family pours gobs of money into the local economy, so downtown is very safe and quaint. The Kimball Art Museum is located there and always attracts great exhibits. I'm not familiar with specific neighborhoods or the athletic scene. Anyone?

I've done some traveling to RadioShack headquarters in Fort Worth lately. Small city, appears safe, clean, has stuff to do. My impression is that it is up and coming. Cost of living is still relatively low there. There is some big gentrification project planned for the river. The locals certainly seem to like the area.

Seriously, I spend a little time there and it is a nice place. I like the west side off of Seminary road. The bike trail on the Trinity River is cool. There is a good cross series there as well.

where are u coming from? it is "up and coming" in the sense that down town is being renovatd, lots of oil money pumping into arts and culture. It would be an ok family place... not so good single late 20s place but getting better on that front.

Also you will have to deal with a fair amount of provincialism... Dallas next to FW is cosmopolitan, which is hard to believe! So it'll be harder to adapt if you are from "up north". Lots of racism (de facto segregation, etc.), good ol southern boys with boots and belly, etc.
