HED Alps

I'm thinking of investing in a set of carbon racing wheels. Is there any pros/cons about the HED Alps?

i have a set and i really like them. barb l. also seems to be doing quite well with them on her steed...but then again she could make a tricycle go fast. i digress.

the pros as i seem them are:

a) they are way less jack than zipp 440s;
b) never heard of any lamination problems with them;
c) surface is alloy -- thus no special break pads required;
d) at higher speeds these things feel as good as any aero wheel i have ever ridden;
e) at 50 mm in depth they are rideable in any wind condition;
f) they look cool on my bike.

on the down side, my hed alps weight about 100 grams more than spec. why i have no idea. they are quite stiff but they are for going fast not the perfect daydream ride. i highly recommend them but i am sure there are some horror stories out there.

The thing that is really impressive about Hed IMO is that they publish their aero data. As you can read here, the Alps turn some very impressive numbers. http://www.hedcycling.com/wheelchooser.htm
