For those with the food channel, tonight's Good Eats is an episode about energy bars. Alton Brown describes everything very well and the recipies are very easy. I've made the protein bar recipe with great success. It makes a very convenient breakfast and is much better than cliff bars.
Make sure to buy your dried fruit from Costco, it really cuts down on the price. I'd say the bars cost about 1/5 the price of a cliff bar. You can make substitutions as well. I use the cheap vanilla whey protein mix from Costco. You can use your favorite dry fruit as well, dried cranberries are very tasty.
