Does anyone have any info. on the water temps for this race this coming Sunday? I have heard that Lum's Pond where it's held currently is around 82 degrees.

I'm not sure where you're from, but here in the DE/PA/NJ tristate area, it's starting to get cooler at night, with temps into the mid 50s. The days are still warm though. The water should hold its temperature, but I'll be a little cooler than the 82 you listed.

From Connecticut so we have the same cool evenings as you. Really just trying to guess whether we'll use wetsuits.

My guess and it's an educated guess is that wetsuits will be allowed. That's a long swim, with a lot of people. It makes the race safer. And I'll wager a bet that the water won't be too warm. It's supposed to be cool through the weekend. Good luck.

I just called the rangers and they said that the water temp is usually around the air temp, in this case the 70's. But I do agree with the statement that any long swim where the RD can equipe the swimmers with PFD's they usually will make any and all effort to do so. See you sunday good luck

Hey-I emailed the race director Neil, here's what he said about water temps:

Steve,

I haven't had a chance to take the water temperature
recently. Probably won't until race day. In August it was
87 during the heat wave. Very unusual. In the past it's
been right around 72. I suspect it will be around 75 since
the weather has been cooler lately.

Neil

Don't know what that means, but if its 75 there will be wetsuits.

"ah-hem...the time is yours."
