Running again
Three months ago I was told that I should never run again. My MRI indicated that just about everything in my left knee was torn to shreds. I accepted the edict and resigned myself to swimming and biking. I continued to run in the water and added more intensity to my runs. Last week I ran on a dirt path for 1 1/2 miles and today I ran a 5K on the Resevoir around Centrl Park. Without pushing it I ran 8:40 pace. I will coantinue to run once a week onland and three more times in the water. I am preparing to do a triathon again. I have one in Cuba the beginning of October with a 5K run.

Running in the water is saving my running.

Yo Doug, You might want to edit your post. As i understand travel to certain island nations is being strictly cracked down on lately.

Hey, all three of us. I have been off for 120 days due to AT. Just back up to an easy 5K last week. feels good to run again and I'm trying to hold back so I don't flare up again.

Congrats Doug! I also used water running twice for knee surgery re-hab, and found it to be better than any therapy the docs could do. The range of motion in addition to the physical gain from water running are incredible, without the pounding, and the heat! I often wonder why I don't do it once a week even when healthy, but a trip into the water for a 2 hour water run solves that question. One of the waterproof radios sure helps! Good luck, and keep us posted.

OOOO me four! I ran 3mi, four times last week.... and 14mi yesterday (got lucky on that one). Coming back from a sfx :)

When doctors tell you that you can't run... real runners don't listen :P

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

I was very curious. I was planning to run about 10 minute miles with some walking thrown in. It never got uncomfortable or hard to do. I am still limiting myelf to one day a week on the roads.
