I've recently swapped out extensions on my bars and am experimenting with the shifters being mounted upside down verses right side up. Though the shifters do stick up a bit (mounted on profile carbon x extensions), I do seem to be more comfortable shifting in the opposite direction.

Are there any pros/cons in mounting the shifters one way or the other that I might be missing? And (an important question), aside from safety/performance, are there any gains or losses in the coolness factor? ;)
