What are the advantages and disadvantages of 700 X 20C tires and 700 X 23C tires? Also, I am now running a 20C on the front and a 23C on the rear; is there a problem inherent in this? (I didn't do this on purpose - I just chose the two different sizes by mistake, and the mechanic who put them on apparently didn't see a problem.) In the past I have used 23C, almost exclusively Vittoria Open Corsa EVO-CX.

I once read that the 23mm had shorter / wider contact foot print , than the 20 mm which was longer, making it a bit slower. The highest pressure you can safely use, is standard for most . you won't gain much with either tire . Do a search ,as this topic has been posted before .
