Predictions for Penticton Mens Race?
I see on Xtri.com this morning Gordo is backing himself for another Green Jacket come close of business Sunday (and based on his season and "Epic" mileage I see no reason why not). The question is can he win against a field containing the likes of Chucke V, the defending Macfayden and the South African Tissink? Looks like the weather is going to be "cooking" come Sunday and I hope the fires in the region have no effect on the race. Who your top 3 for Sunday be?

I haven't done a good job of keeping tabs on the developing men's field, but if Gordo does win the race on Sunday, it couldn't happen to a better guy. He's done the progression over the last several years and has incrementally notched up his preparations. Hard work = big rewards. His time is due for a nice harvest. Go Gordo Go!

I think Gordo has as good a chance as anyone else in this field. I think it is pretty wide open. I would give MacFayden the nod to repeat though. I think Gordo might have a slight advantage over some from his recent high altitude training. I went for a short run this morning here in penticton and with the ash floating in the air, it felt like I was running at altitude. They are predicting rain for Friday and Saturday and I hope it does rain to knock some of that stuff out of the air.

I said the field was wide open, but not that wide ;-)

since Bobo is a friend, he deserves a slam every once in a while.

Hey folks,

Let's not forget Chuckie V ! The guy has won here once and gone second...this type of course, with the challenging ride, suits the guy and his training has been on target since January.

Many overlooked his race at Coeur D'Alene. He was conservative on the bike, then moved through the field into 6th on the run before legs cramps took over.

One should also note his win at the 5430 Half a month ago here in Boulder. Ran "comfortably" to a 4:10 at altitude !

Mike, oh you of little faith. Bobo is coming off a big win in Lafayette - 200m pool swim, 10 mile bike and 2 mile run-and he's been training at least 6 weeks. The man's got a shot!!!!!!!!

Francois - while being a huge Lisa Bently fan I personally believe she is over raced this year with Auz and NZ plus a couple of halfs already this year - she may be ok for Penticton but I don't believe she will have the best of times on Kona...

when I posted my message, I thought the same thing...a bit like some of the seasons Lori did...
although lori is faster and got 2nd places in Kona
but managed the win only when Natasha wasn't there.

As for IMC, I'd really like Gordo to have a blinder.
But my guess is that the win will be between Tissink and McFayden.

But my guess is that the win will be between Tissink and McFayden. Being a fellow South African I would love for Raynard to win one of the big ones - he is one of the nicest guys on the circuit right now - moved his wife and 2 kids over to Boulder to be with him in his first season in North America. His wife says he may stay around for Florida as well - probably be a case of one to many though. For IMC I share your thoughts on both McFayden and Gordo - Rhodes seems to drop out more than he finishes these days and I think Chuckie V is due - however I have to say GO RAYNARD GO!!!

I expect Gordo in the to 5 and hope for a podium for him. But a win is very hard (but possible). Chucke V recently beat Gordo.
With that many 'favourites' I can only guess top 3:

1.) Garrett MacFayden 2.) Chucke V 3.) Gordo Byrn

I regularly read and sometimes post in Gorods forum. Therefore I hope the best for him.

While she's done a bunch of halfs, if she hadn't she would have done some very hard workouts at home those weekends. So I am not sure it really matters, and she does seem in a very good frame of mind this week. But I agree it all does seem a bit much and it is amazing she is able to do all this this year, let's hope it continues. I'm just hoping I'll be out of T2 before Lisa finishes :-)

I don't know much about all the guys entered, but I'm rooting for two:

Mike Plumb in the 40-44 and Gordo Byrn in the Pro/Elite.

Sig, thanks for plug, but I'm gonna get my ass handed to me. Whatever I do, it's on less than 10 hours/week, so that's some kinda record.

I'll be almost back with Plumb.

Tissink will win I predict, relatively easily.

yep...Tissink is a good choice. not easily though...
Garrett may be fairly close, and even in front.

Wasn't Lori supposed to race there??

Gordo came up to me the other day at the expo and told me that Raynard was going to have a blazing race. When asked about his own prospects he smiled. I thought he thought Raynard was the "favorite" and he would have a good race. We will see.
