I'm a 20 year old kid, and I finished my first triathlon today. It was an Oly, and even though pretty much everything that could've gone wrong went wrong (goggles got kicked off, rear tire quick-release popped out 2x, aerobars were too loose and i ended up riding the bullhorns, and my running shoes came unlaced) i still finished around my goal time (2:46:42) and had a great time.
Now I'm addicted to triathlon!!!
Everyone I met today (it's the first day of orientation at my college, I met a lot of freshmen) asked about my race #s on my arm and leg, and it felt great to tell them that I ran a tri today.
I guess the point of this post is to thank everyone who's ever posted on this forum. I've spent the past 2 weeks reading every thread I could, and your tips and inspirational stories have been great resources. So, thanks.
Next year, I'm cutting the race down to 2:30, and hopefully I'll race a 1/2 IM if I can find one in my area (either NJ or OH)
Thanks again, everyone.
