If I only had one season left....
If I did only have one season left and I'd already got my IM finish and AG worlds national team vest what races should I do ?

Alcatraz and Wildflower would be solid contenders. Nice has unfortunatley changed now. Anything else I should look at for atmosphere and a rewarding experience ?

Alcatraz, as you mention, would be my first choice. One of the "winter" IM's (Oz or New Zealand) would be cool - and IM Canada is a fabulous race.

In terms of "classics" here in the US - Chicago, St. Anthony's, St. Croix, the half in Panama City (forget the name), Eagleman, Lubbock Half (forget the name) and Columbia.

Not at all, just trying to cram a full career of racing into 3 just in case something breaks. Nothing new there then !!!

Oh yeah, definitely Alcatraz. That's probably the most known race all around the world in all distances!

Now that the Nice Middle Distance is no more, I guess it is.

I'm trying to finish off my goal races this year and they sound similar to yours.

Done:
-IM Kona-helps that I live in Hawaii;)
-Xterra Worlds

To Do:
-Wildflower (flying out tomorrow)
-Age Group Worlds (got my spot for this year)
-Xterra Nationals at Tahoe (got my qualifying races lined up)

Other cool races after I finish the list:
-Alcatraz, just sounds cool
-Xterra Saipan or Japan, they rhyme and both look damn cool
-Ultraman, okay maybe this one in a long long time
-A pro ITU race, we'll go for the pro thing after ag worlds and with a pro card then I can actually get into Alcatraz

Good choice.

I'm hopefully looking at:

IM and Age group worlds next year,
Alcatraz and Xterra the year after that.

Hawaii would be nice but I don't know if I'll like long course long term purely on the basis that I'm a racer and focusing on one brutal event may try my patience (that said I'll revisit this after IM next year).

Any other suggestions are welcomed !!!

The last season...

1. Xterra Tahoe

2. Alcatraz

3. St Croix

4. Ironman Brazil (mainly for the post-race disco)

5. La Ruta de Los Conquistadores (not a triathlon but how often do you get to mountain bike from the Pacific to the Atlantic?)

Cool, how was Alcatraz?? Brazil sounds cool too, and I've heard that the parties were pretty good. Talking to Jimmy D after his trip and, and well he didn't remember much so the parties must have been pretty good. Man, I need to qualify for Tahoe... Temecula, Richmond, and our local Xterra race, hope that's enough pts.

So when are you coming over? You have a place to stay! Exactly two miles from the finish line.
