Regular Campy FD with Compact Crank...

Anyone try this combo? I see Campy says you need their compact front deraileur. I'm thinking of going compact so I can gear down a bit for the steep climbs around me.

I use a Campy triple FD with my compacts, because the "compact specific" one wasn't available when I bought my bike. It works pretty well, although I couldn't give you a comparison.

I use 2000 Campag FD with FSA Pro Elite compact chainset and have experienced no problems with shifting.

Yes. Record front derailleur and FSA Carbon Pro compact cranks. No problems whatsoever, but I try to be careful.
