Medical Question 1 - Cracked Collarbone
OK about 2 weeks ago I had a collision with a pedestrian whilst riding to work. I fell off my bike at relatively low speed and didn’t think much had happened apart from some jarring. Later I noticed my right shoulder (I fell to the left) was a little sore. On closer examination I noticed it was actually in the bony protrustion from my shoulder to my neck (I assume it’s the collarbone). Anyway I got it checked out two days later and the GP said it may either be strained ligaments or a small crack. He said it wasn’t worth getting it x-rayed just yet as there would not be enough calcium showing. I asked whether it would be ok to keep training (in particular swimming) and he said yes it would be fine. I’ve been swimming a couple of times a week since and the pain is still there. It’s not extreme or anything but I’m wondering whether I’m doing more damage swimming with it the way it is. I am aware of it when I swim but it hasn’t seemed to affect speed or anything. Thoughts?
