Maybe Janis was singing about a woman, too???

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

David Byrne has some of the best opening lines ever:

"I can't seem to face up to the facts ..."

"Damn that television ... what a bad picture!!!"

"Think of London, a small city."

"Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons, packed up and ready to go"

"Everyone is trying to get to the bar."

"Lost my shape-Trying to act casual ..."

"Sometimes the world has a load of questions"

"For a long time I felt without style or grace
Wearing shoes with no socks in cold weather"

"Watch out you might get what you're after"

"And she was lying in the grass ..."

The funniest thing about "Me and Bobby Mcgee" is that it was banned from the radio for drug lyrics along with Brewer and Shipley's "One Toke Over The Line". Now "One Toke Over The Line" obviously was over the line, but there are no drug lyrics in "Bobby Mcgee". Maybe they thought "I took my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana" was druggy, but if they listened to the next line "I was blowin soft while Bobby played the blues" they would have known that he was talking about a harmonica!

Smurf's theme song

BTW, the Grateful Dead also did Me and Bobby McGee. Makes me think the song was supposed to be from a male perspective.

Or maybe Bob Weir is gay. ;)
