How does one eliminate float on the pedal?

I have a set of Look A3.1's (yes I know I should have better) and I feel like my foot is slipping all over the place. It has also become increasingly harder to clip out of them.

The black look cleats have "no float". The read cleats privide some degree of float. I'd also double check to make sure the cleats you have are screwed into the shoe TIGHT. Sometimes the cleats can loosen and then it feels really loosey goosey. Look pedals don't have all that much float.

Nothing wrong with the A3.1s by the way.

I love them but recently noticed how much float there is after some time off the cycle.

I'll try the black ones.
