Has no one mentioned Southern Culture on the Skids, or did I just miss it?

Melt Banana are awesome.

Have a look for Grandmaster Gareth - Minute Melodies.

A few more I though about this morning:

Ugly Kid Joe - America's Least Wanted (yeah yeah, I know, the "I hate everything about you" guys, but the album rocks! Kind of a greatest hits collection)

Gipsy Kings - ANY ALBUM BY THEM (I listen to them when I bike, run, clean, program, cook, play video games....they are good for any activity)

Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning (his solo album, its awesome!)

Alan Pollard "See it for What it is" An almost unknown singer/songwriter from Pennsylvania who sings about love and loss. I guarantee you'll be humming these songs after one listen.

That is the perfect description of them Kentiger!

If there is a world record for most songs in movies, commercials, promos, tv shows....Gipsy Kings would have it!

Interesting fact I just found out about them...I always though the lyrics were some wierd spanish, but I guess its actual a dialect that the gispsys in France (where they are apparently really from) that they are singing in. Cool useless trivia at its best

Let's not forget Man or Astroman?. One of the greatest surf bands ever. Coco the Electronic Monkey Wizard is my god!

I have seen the Astromen as well as their alpha clones. Best show was New Years Eve 1999 at the Middle East in Cambridge, their Y2K show involved blowing up a bunch of computers. Too cool. Southern Culture on the Skids are another great schtick rockabilly act. Anybody know how to walk like a Camel

My vote for best obscure band are the Murder City Devils, great gothabilly band. I actaully got into an argument with the clerk at the Sub Pop store in Seattle he says goth and I say rockabilly, so gothabilly.

Hey Tibbs you ought to check out Coachella. I went last year and it ruled.

I don't think I saw Los Straitjackets (surf rock instrumentalists) or Social Distortion anywhere in the post.

Also, D.A.D., who I hear are (were) big in their home country of Denmark (?), but I never hear anything about here in the U.S. Rumor is they were called DAD for Disneyland After Dark, then were sued and became just DAD. Anybody know the story? Anyhow, "Everything Glows" is one of my favorite albums of all time.

I guess I like anything Elvis Costello, but he's hardly unknown.

Cheers,

Joe

i have been a Social Distortion fan almost since I can remember. Through their various phases, no matter what, those motherfuckers just straight up know how to lay down the rock.

A friend of mine that grew up in O.C. turned me on to them about 7 years ago. I finally saw them live in Phoenix a couple months ago and they are coming to Columbus in Feb, so I have that to look forward to. Which is nice. They do indeed rock.
