Why do people think they need to change their chainrings to go faster?
First it was the huge chainrings (56 and 58's), now it's the compact cranks. Serisouly people, look at cyclists. They ride faster than 99% of everybody out there, and they do it on a regular 53 or 52 chainring (maybe 54 for the TTs).

On a different note, I am finally getting my gear restrictions removed (hardest gear up until now was 53-17). Yessssssssss!

It's psychologocal as well as for physical reasons. I mean, if you feel like you can spin out faster on a 56-11, why not?
